Tips on how to study to get your Florida Real Estate License.

IMPORTANT. Get your fingerprints and application done as soon as possible.

Live Classes.

Let’s look at the resources you will have when you attend a live instructor-presented class.

Depending on the class you may get some or all of the following.

Course Book
Set of Handouts
Review book or Extra questions
Online Drill Question Bank
Access to Online Chapter Videos
Quick Access webpage or phone app
Instructor support, usually anytime, via phone, text or email.

One important point I must make is that you have to allocate time per day, even after class, to review the day’s lessons and preview the next day’s lessons.

A typical routine would be:

Attend that day’s class.
Review the end of lesson book questions, Summary of important points, and Key Terms.
Review that chapter’s instructors highlighted areas.
Complete the Review or Drill questions for that day’s lessons as shown by your instructor.
Preview the next lessons videos.
The instructor will tell you at the end of the day what the next chapters will be.

You need to repeat this process after every day’s lessons.

During periods of longer time between lessons, 2 or 3 days, go back to a few days lessons as repeat the above.

Remember, on the longer, stretched-out courses, that 4-week or 8-week courses, it is crucial that you do go back and review the earlier learned materials often. There is a lot to remember and it is forgotten easily.

Online Classes

Very much the same as the live class except you are the instructor and student.

Let’s look at the resources you will have when you sign up for the online class.

Depending on the class you may get some or all of the following.

Online Course
Online Drill Question Bank

Set of Handouts to print out
Access to Online Chapter Videos
Quick Access webpage or phone app
Instructor support, usually anytime, via phone, text or email.

Bookmark the access link on your computer. This course is really best taken with a desktop or laptop. While it does work OK on a phone or a tablet, this method of learning has long been proved to be ineffective. Make sure you are fully familiar with the layout and navigation of the online course.

Try to set yourself a classroom environment at home is a spare room or quiet area with absolutely no distractions. If that is not possible spend a few hours every day at the local library or some quiet location. I cannot stress how important this is.

Also, set yourself a solid study schedule. Just like you would be if attending a live class, do the same for your online schedule. Plan it in advance and stick to it. Once again I cannot stress how important this is.

You should try and complete the course in no more than 8 weeks, preferred between 20-30 days.  about 3 to 4 hours a day seems to have shown the best results.

Now, on to the actual learning process.

DO NOT JUMP AROUND THE LESSONS. DO THEM IN ORDER.

The best and we consider proven way to complete the course is through a systematic and disciplined ritual of preparation, learning, review and testing.

We have supplied supplementary videos to each chapter, the purpose of which is to pre-load, so to speak, the brain with the basics of the chapter.

View the chapter video first.
Work through that chapter’s online content, completing the mini quizzes and problems. Complete the end-of-chapter quiz making a note of the questions you answered incorrectly.
Go to the question bank and work through that chapter’s questions to determine how much you retained.
Review those questions you got wrong, maybe by reviewing the appropriate online texts.
Answer the wrong questions until you get them right.
Repeat the process for each chapter.

If you are taking quite a while then remember to repeat some of the earlier chapters on the online course.
You will have an end-of-course practice exam which you can take many times. Only when you have at least a score of 80/100 on the performance tracker then you should take the course final exam.

You will need 70% on the final course exam to pass. The school will be notified and you will be sent your completion diploma and exam authorization certificate by the school.

Please do your very best to pass this end of the course the first time as you will have to wait 30 days before you will be allowed to take it the second time. If you fail the second exam, then you are obliged to re-take the entire course. You will have to pay for and get a new course. The original course expires after the second failed attempt.

After passing the course by following the above guidelines, you will be in a very strong position to take the State exam.  just to be doubly sure, work through as many random simulated exams as possible until you consistently get 85-90%.  We have had extremely good results from our online students who follow this procedure. An excess of 80% passes the state exam the first time using our methods outlined here.

The main reasons for failure are:

Failure to maintain a solid schedule
Rushing or clicking through the course to get quickly to the end of each unit
Not achieving a high score on each of the drill bank chapter modules before moving on to the next chapter
Taking way too long to complete the online course
Leaving large gaps between learning sessions.  Once every weekend or every 2 weeks.  Try to schedule at least every day or two.

The course is hard, but most of the key to success is in the method of learning, not in the content.

Hope this helps.
